Inspiration
WARHOL's CINEMA - A Mirror for the Sixties (1989)
Myself personally I have always been intrigued by Warhol’s work. His various methods in reconstructing color, tone and shape have always peaked my interest. His work is provocative, he pushes the film envelops.

Guy Debord (1931-1994)
Society of the Spectacle, Part 1, 1973
Another provocative film, spectacle part 1, illustrates culture evolution both nationally, and over seas. I can appreciate the conflict worked into this video. “Nazi Germany, soviet Union?) The woman’s figure is expressed freely yet he drives a meaning for culture intention

Thomas Demand (b. 1964)
I appreciated this fast-paced tracking shot through the tunnel, I felt like I was introduced to a new world. Entering the tunnel, mid-way into the tunnel and exiting the tunnel to in-turn echo the experience again. I agree with some critics that say this work reflects upon the model of our relationship to images from the mass media.

Inspiration
In 2005 Roch Forowicz set up surveillance cameras outside of three apartment complexes. This interactive work allows the viewer to click on individual windows of strangers and take a closer look into their lives. None of the subjects in these videos were aware of the filming taking place (until a notice was posted after the filming was done). This spying nature is what I would like to capture.
In 1996 a group named the Surveillance Camera Players began putting on shows for the anonymous viewers of surveillance cameras, the first show was in Manhattan’s Union Square subway station. From this example I have taken the drive to create a performance out of captured surveillance type video I will be capturing.

By far the longest piece of video art I have seen is Koyaanisqatsi. Directed by Godfrey Reggio in 1982, this film whose title literally means “crazy life” or “life out of balance” was the direct inspiration for this final assignment. I wanted to take the idea of how oblivious we are in our daily travels. I literally want to cut video footage apart and take unsuspecting people and transform them.

Influencing Artists (aka "artizezz")
Berlin Horse focuses on time and how it's perceived. An extremely short clip is made into something of beauty and patience via layering and circular motions. Audio is also circular.
Ben Vautier - Ben Series
The Ben series is a depiction of people in various states of physical strain. The stillness of the figures and the duration of their poses create physical anxiety.
On the hunt for a third artist. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
