Unfortunately I was not able to find much information about Hiraki Sawa, so much of his reasoning or even past works remain blank.
I chose this piece in particular by Hiraki Sawa because of it's absence of action, and maybe because I love the small toy planes.
Hiraki Sawa uses a simple black and white video color keeping everything in a minimalist approach. The homestead which he also chose to use was simple and not over elegant for the video.
There were also a lot of straight one clips in which only the planes produced any depth.
Another reason I chose this piece was the audio. I believed Hiraki Sawa did a wonderful
job matching the audio with video. The audio is simple as well, but the lyrics are strong.
Just like the planes hold together the video, the lyrics hold together the audio.
This piece contains the simplicity I would like to achieve in my videos. He uses subtle ideas of motion and time.
